Sold by her father to an Indian family who treated her more like a daughter than a servant, she was forced to leave Uganda when her Indian family is expelled by then President Idi Amin Dada. Now an adult and holding a law degree, she returns to Uganda where misogynistic traditions compel her to start a women’s liberation movement that changes the social and legal landscape.
